Accommodations: Bayside Inn in Key Largo, FL

Dive operator: Captain Slate Scuba Adventures in Tavernier, FL

Sunday Aug. 13:   Arrive at Bayside Inn

Monday:  Captain Slate has given ADFC special dive rates for this trip. The plan is to dive wrecks and reefs and the exact sites will be decided based on weather and ocean conditions during the trip. Tuesday and Wednesday: Coral restoration with CRF for the in-classroom course, then restoration course activities in the ocean nursery and outplanting.  The boat is chartered for these dives.

Thursday morning, we will be joining the I.CARE team in Islamorada,  https://www.icareaboutcoral.org/ They will train us on their outplanting techniques and give us a tour of Mote Aquarium’s land-based nursery. Then we will participate in a  2-tank outplanting dive.
On Friday afternoon, we will participate in a 2-tank dive, dive 1 cleaning coral trees in Mote’s offshore nursery, and dive 2 performing maintenance on I.CARE outplanted corals. Please note, dives on Friday will be shallow, no more than 30 feet deep so a 12-hour surface time should be sufficient for flying. If flying out on Saturday, afternoon flights are recommended.
